On August 1, 16 Voices United members kicked off the month in the cool comfort of the Denton Cinemark, attending the movie "Barbie."
The event was organized by the Voices social committee.
Afterwards, members had a lot to say about the movie as they dined at BJ’s Restaurant and finished the evening at Beth Marie’s for ice cream.
Consensus: they really liked it!
Briefly, "Barbie" is an often-satirical fantasy tale about a Barbie who wakes up in her Dream House one day in Barbieland with very un-doll-like thoughts. Her boyfriend Ken tags along as she journeys to the what the movie considers the real world -- Los Angeles -- to solve her problem. Once there, Barbie finds out that real life is more complicated that she thought.
A lot of Barbie-pink costumes, props and backgrounds are involved.
