Robson Ranch Voices United, a non-partisan progressive women's group, raised $8,000 in October to help young women in Texas and across the US get into decision-making roles in politics and government.
The Voices annual fundraiser for Ignite National, the largest and most diverse movement to involve young college and high school women in civic affairs through politics or government service.
Ignite, a non-partisan 501(c)3 organization, has chapters at UNT, TWU, many other Texas schools, and in many other states.
At a party at the home of Linda Vandenbree, we heard from Merriott Terry, a Robson resident and Voices member, who started the Ignite operation in Texas and Whitney Thomas, national director of development for Ignite.
The money was raised from event ticket sales, donations and purchases of Tshirts, tickets to a wine pull and a Great Women bingo game created by Voices members featuring female leaders from ancient Egypt to the modern USA.
The fundraising effort was organized by the Voices Outreach Committee: Jane Scholz, Margo Ways, Carol Rogers, Michele Kibler, Vicki Baker, Jacqueline Ford, Ginger Sheppard, Lorie Stockton and Linda Vandenbree.
Food and drink were provided by the Social Committee: Susan Engstrom, Jane Thompson, Sheri Quarfoot, Chris Laffey, Sara Shibley, Lorie Stockton, Lynn Watson, Jan Lands, Vicki Shoemaker, Deb Williams, Rupa Mathur, Jacqueline Ford, Deanna Sico and Karen Donohue.
